Phebus Patagonia Gran Reserva Merlot

VINEYARD LOCATION

Alto Valle de Río Negro, Patagonia

VINES

100% Merlot with a yield of 30 hl/ha. Deleafing and green picking is performed in December.
The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of March in small trays of 20 kg in order not to damage the grapes.
Meticulous sorting is performed by hand prior to vinification in order to select the best grapes.

WINEMAKING

Cold maceration takes place for 5 days followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks at 28-30°C with 4 pump-overs per day and a maceration period of 30 days. All of the wine is then aged in French oak for 12 months.

TASTING NOTES

An intense red colour.
This is a very elegant wine with complex aromas of dark red forest fruits with hints of vanilla and coffee. The palate is well balanced, with a great structure, silky tannins and a beautiful long finish.
